Hello, I'm Sophie
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. I'm an expat living in Paris, France.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to France wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
The early weeks were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, loftier expectations. Daily chores seemed more intricate than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt steady.
Why I Built Marble Fern Shaven
Much of the online information skewed toward corporate relocation guidance or shallow travel content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical tips grounded in real life in France.
